Comedian Chris ‘Johnny’ Daley is honored that he has finally nabbed the coveted IRAWMA award for Comedian Of the Year for 2019. The talented media personality, comedian and actor has been in the public eye for over three decades and even though he has received various accolades over his 30 year career; including multiple IRAWMA nominations, this win is important for Daley because it confirms to him that he is still making the right impact in the industry. 

An impact he believes is due to his willingness to change over the years and his deep love for comedy which keeps him on a constant quest for self-improvement and that is what sets him apart from other comedians.

“I believe I have managed to stay current over these decades because I am always open to change, and I am like a sponge always soaking up information, and that is what sets me apart from other comedians.” Johnny explained.

Though Daley believes this IRAWMA win validates his hard work over the years, he believes that there were other deserving comedians nominated, including Maja Hype and Ity Ellis. Johnny is elated that he was even nominated among such a talented bunch and even more so that he was chosen as the 2019 winner.

“I feel jubilant about winning the IRAWMA Comedian of the year for sure. It was unexpected as there were many other talented comedians nominated, but I am happy for the win especially after multiple nominations, Comedy is my career and it is successful,” Johnny added

Success the comedian sees on the local and international level, Daley recently returned from a successful set of events in Canada and North Carolina and is looking forward to the launch of the second 2019 season of his weekly standup comedy series Johnny LIVE Comedy Bar slated for June 4 here in Jamaica.

Hosted at the Blue Room at Phoenix Theater on Haining Road, Johnny LIVE Comedy Bar is the first successful comedy club of its kind in Jamaica and is now entering its third year, every Tuesday night patrons are treated to live comedy sets from popular and up and coming comedians who hit the stage to entertain the intimate audience.

Daley is set to perform next at multiple events in the Caribbean including St Kitts, Trinidad as well as the Cayman Islands.
